Hi I recently had sex with a lady who claims to have no sexual diseases and her skin and everything looks normal. However within 2-weeks I have gone down with a heavy cold; sore throat, headache, constant blocked nose and my neck feels stiff. I have checked my glands under my jaw and they are pea sized. I do get over worried about things but do you think this could be hiv related
Just by seeing a lady or a man, nobody can tell whether they are having HIV or not. Most of the times even for 10 years people who are having HIV would appear quite healthy. Earliest HIV manifestation can occur only after 4-6 weeks in presence of infection and not earlier. So your symptoms are unlikely to be due to HIV. Sore throat, head ache, lymphadenitis, nasal block can occur to anybody without HIV. So testing for HIV is the only way to find your HIV status. Dr S.Murugan
