I'm 80 and had lots of tests ans investigations but no one seemes to be able to help me get controll of my over active night time bladder.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Urinary symptoms at the age of 80 suggests enlargement of prostate. Prostate gland starts undergoing enlargement after the age of 50 in majority of men. The enlarged prostate gland interferes with bladder functions. people suffer from increased frequency of micturition, nocturia (urination at night), hesitancy (hesitation in passing urine), dysuria (burning micturition), etc. You need to consult your surgeon for clinical examination and relevant investigations which includes trans-rectal ultrasound and serum PSA levels. Serum PSA is a marker which is raised in benign enlargement of prostate. Further management will be planned after getting results of these investigations.
