How To Control The High BP Without Stronger Medications?

Hi Doctor. I have been taking atacand 32 since july 2013 when my doctor prescribed this medication when I was having BP at around 145/80 approx. At one time in 2013 my BP went higher to about 165/85or 90 when another doctor put me on atacand32 plus 12.5. I therofre continued this with approval from my earlier family doctor aND MY BP CAME DOWN TO 120/80. nOW it has gone back to 175/ 90 approx. for the last 6 to 8 weeks. He does not want me to go back to ata 32 plus 12.5 and has given me some more days for bp to come down, otherwise he thinks he may have to put me back on plus 12.5. I walk everyday for about 20/25 mins. eat fruits and veg. less sugar and coffee. less salt. maybe one drinh a day or nothing. How do I bring it down without stronger medication. Thanks.

Hello welcome to HCM.
I have read your question and understand your concerns.
I think you should take atacard 32+12.5 now as it's not a very strong medicine and your blood pressure will be well controlled with that medicine.

My advice to you is -

1. Do your 24 hrs blood pressure monitoring. Ask your doctor about that and you will get definite idea about blood pressure fluctuations. If still blood pressure at manier times above 140/90 mmhg then you should take previous tablet again as it's a very good medicine for blood pressure.

2.Second option is take atacard 16 mg, two times a day for 24 BP control.

3 . Continue walking and diet as you have mentioned.
Thank you.
Have a nice day.
