My name is Sibin and my profession is IT, long sitting job. I had admitted in one of the hospital due to thie IVDP and I would like to know, surgery is required to releive from this? or continuous rest will help me to recover from thsi IVDP? Kindly suggest. Regards, Sibin Varghese
Hi Sibin and welcome to HCM. Not all cases of IVDP requires suregry, it depends on extent of disc prolapse, compression of nerves, age of the patient, severity of symptoms. Rest is very important, along with that u may need to take some pain killers and nutritional supplements. If lumbar region is involved its better to use lumbar belt. Avoid bending. Your chair should be ergonomically constructed to meet the spinal curves. While getting up from lying position turn on one side and get up. Trust your orthopedician and do what he says, as he knows the extent of prolapse. I think this was helpful to u. Regards
