Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just recovered from a stress fracture in my left foot and now pretty sure I am facing the same thing in my right foot - top of foot. I see the podiatrist on Monday. Should I be applying ice to it? I had a boot for my other foot and even though it is the wrong foot been wearing that when I have to do a good bit of walking. Why am I getting repeat fractures?
Hello, I have studied your case. Stress fracture is caused by either walking for long times or it can be caused by weak bones . I have following suggestions for you. 1. Do not wear wrong shoes. Wear sports shoes. 2.Ice is not effective. I would suggest you to apply warm water. 3. Get x ray to confirm the diagnosis. Also get a BMD scan that will tell us if there is calcium deficiency in your bone. You need to take calcium and vitamin D 3 regularly for these bones. 4. Also take half hour sun exposure daily as it will give you much needed vitamin D. I hope these steps will be helpful in treating stress fracture. You can ask any follow up questions also. Thanks
