How To Cure A Sudden Soreness On Top Of The Shin Area?

yesterday, I had the sudden onset of a really sore area located on the top of my shin area....like where the foot pivots up and down that range of motion is very painful and even to the touch. There is one little red spot and a slight bruising with a very faint red line up and down that area as well. I took benedryl in case it was a bug bite and ibuprofen for pain seemed to help but, today it is still really sore hard to walk on????

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

A sudden soreness on top of shin area can be due to shin splints or inflammation in the area. Proper rest and use of crepe bandage or an elastic bandage can help in proper healing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Praveen Tayal, Orthopaedic Surgeon
