Hi I was positive for bacterial vaginosis with my last pap and swabs. I was given Metronidazole and told to take 2 tabs BID but I misunderstood and took 1tab BID now my peri area is extremely itchy and slightly swollen. I do have the extra Flagyl, should I continue taking it and I have some fucidine cream that I m wondering if I can use topicalky in that area (labia)
I would advice you to, - continue taking flagyl, as it is the best course of treatment for a week. - Avoid Oral contraceptives, feminine products & irritant chemicals. - Maintain good hygiene & safe sex - repeat one vaginal swab test & also urine culture & routine. - Use Daktarin vaginal gel or can also use fusidine cream.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.
Regards, Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
