Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain there is a possibility that when your son moved while cleaning the ear the q-tip has been hit against the wall of the
ear canal and injured the ear canal leading to bleeding..
As the bleeding ceased soon as well as there are no other symptoms like pain or disturbance in hearing you need not to worry as it is not necessary that you might have injured the
eardrum..
But if the q tip went too deep inside the ear, then chances of minor perforation of the ear drum are possible but to confirm that you need to get an otoscopic examination done by an otolaryngologist..
In case if there is only trauma to ear canal then it will heal on its own very soon..
But in case of ear drum perforation treatment will depend upon the severity of perforation..
In case of small perforation antibiotics, anti inflammatory medicine and nasal decongestant spray will relieve..
In case of large perforation, which does not seems to be a cause in your son,
tympanoplasty can be advised..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards.
