I am Vishal. few years back my mother had been suffering with Tuberculosis. Doctor say now TB is cured but it has left shadow in lungs. but fever continued. last year she suffered with high fever and cough. Dcctors cured the fever but cough continues throughout the day. even when she is on bed her mouth is filled with cough. doctors say it is almost impossible to prevent cough. she is getting weakened day by day.
Thanks for your question on HCM. I can understand your problem and situation. By your history and description following are the possibilities in your mother. 1. Post tuberculosisbronchitis. 2. Post tuberculosis bronchiectesis 3. MDR (multi drug resistant) tuberculosis. So better to get done 1. CT thorax 2. Sputum AFB culture and sensitivity 3. PFT (pulmonary function test). CT will be needed to rule out worsening of underlying lung infiltration and bronchiectesis. Sputum AFB culture and sensitivity is needed to rule out MDR TB. PFT is needed to rule out bronchitis. So better to consult pulmonologist and discuss all these. First diagnose herself properly and then start appropriate treatment.
