Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am visiting my demanding parents with my ten-month-old daughter. I feel worthless when my parents talk to me. I am on Zoloft and I do feel calm, but I feel abandoned by them. I only feel comforted when I am with my daughter. How can I avoid being more depressed?
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. You have been suffering from depression and are on Zoloft or Sertraline for that. As you have aggravation of depressive symptoms when you are with your parents and feel better when you remain with your daughter. In such case I would advise you to try to avoid the situations which provoke your depressive symptoms. You are good with medicines but still in my opinion you should consult a psychologist. Cognitive behaviour therapy can help you to reduce these symptoms. In cognitive therapy abnormal thought processes, cognitive distortions are unrevealed and then individuals and psychologist work together to correct these distortions in progressive sessions. This helps to remove depressive thoughts and individuals learn to cope up in depression provoking situations.
Visit a psychologist for help.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
