Hello I am 10 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with dietamoeba fragilis. I have had 2 flare ups in the past 3 weeks which have caused me to lose weight. My doctor has said it cannot be treated in the first trimester and is very risky to treat during pregnancy. Can you offer any advice? I see on one thread to a pregnant woman a doctor has said it can be cured easily in pregnancy.
yes it can be treated with erythromycin, but it is always better to avoid any form of medication in the initial 12 weeks of pregnancy as these are the organ forming weeks of the baby and meds may have undue effects over growth like macrolides, cephalosporins.ad vise would be to wait another 2 weeks. regards
