How To Cure Discomfort And Burning Sensation During Urination After Intercourse?

Hello, I recently had intercourse and everything was fine until the night after. My cliteris is sore, though I thought it might be the urethra at first. It only hurts for a few hours and only at night time. I have the constant urge to pee, and I get am extreme discomfort. I do not have any burning sensation when I urinate though. I think my clit is swollen also. I had protected sex..for the most part. I was hoping if you could tell me what to do, if this was normal and if you knew how long it will last! Thank you

Hi,
I have gone through your query and here is the possible explanation for your symptoms. During an intercourse, especially for the first time, there is pressure on the urethra and this can cause a condition called 'Honeymoon Cystitis'. There is an intense desire to pass urine, called 'strangury'. There is often no evidence of infection and the condition is self-subsiding in 2-3 days. This is more when the uterus is retroverted, since the urethra is very much exposed in this case. Flavoxate gives relief from the strangury, while urinary alkalinizers are used to limit infection. Antibiotics are rarely needed. Take plenty of liquids and see your health care provider for further management. Abstain until you are healed well. Take care.
