my name is genia and im 53 yrs old , i have found 2 knots right above my belly button. They are small (grape size) but hurt when i press on them they are on the right side and i also feel something odd feeling in my side, do i need to see a dr. and what kind? i have no insurance i know test are exspensive. Have any idea what i could have wrong with me?

Noted the history and understood the concerns. 2 knots above the belly button at the age of 53 in a female person can be due to para-umbilical hernia unless proved otherwise. For such a case one needs a proper clinical evaluation and examination by a General surgeon. If this is hernia you can get two signs: The first is to keep the flat of the pal on the lump and cough hard, if there is a impulse on coughing that is expansion of the lump this is hernia. Second is reducibility that is the lump reduces on pressing upon , although this is difficult to elucidate if the neck of hernia sac is small and the content is mainly fat. If this is a lipoma or so both the above signs will be negative. Get operated once your insurance is in activation.
