How To Cure Pain And Redness Around The Anus?

my 3 yr old is potty trained, but a few days ago started complaining that her bum hurt. It hurt her so bad we couldn t touch it. She freaks out if we even want to look at it. After begging and bargaining she would let me look at it for a moment, it is very red around her anus. i have put cream on it and powder and now the skin is peeling off. She hurts so much that she doesn t want me to look at it or even hold her. is it just a rash. has she not been wiping enough when she goes to the bathroom or do i need to tak her in?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

It's possible that the irritation or friction from wiping or rubbing the area thoroughly has caused the redness. Clean the area gently with running water if possible, or with wet cotton. Continue application of nappy rash cream.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Cajetan, Pediatrician
