How To Cure Pain And Swelling In Perineum Due To Stitches?
My step daughter had a baby, it's been 2 years ago. She just came up to me and told me that she has never had any pain or swelling of the perineum where she got her stitches after she had her son. Well, now it's two years later and she told me her perineum is very sory and swollen right where she had the stitches and she doesn't know why or what is wrong and I don't either to be honest. I told her to take a warm bath with baking soda and that's it. I don't have a sids bath. Can you please tell me what this could be and what would help ease her discomfort or if she needs to be seen. Thanks
Hi, It needs to be inspected to know what the actual pathology is, so I would ask you to get her examined by a specialist for proper evaluation and management. It could be anything from a perineal infection to an abscess. Analgesics, sitz baths, local heat application may help to alleviate pain but the cause should be identified for total relief. Antibiotics may be needed along with drainage if an abscess has formed. Enzymes like chymotrypsin and serratiopeptidase would be helpful. Hope your query has been answered. Take care.
