About a week ago I had a bump on my leg that looked like an ingrown hair. I squeezed it and nothing happened so I left it alone. A couple of days later it began to kind of scab over with the skin around it getting kind of pink and tender. It doesn t really hurt at all and it does not feel like there is any sort of abscess underneath but it looks quite strange on top. It remains a flat scab that s brownish white with a ring of pink around it. Does. Of itch or hurt when touched but I ve been trying not to touch it at all. Could it be infected under the scab? Should I put neosporin or leave it alone?
hi, thanks for putting up your query on HCM. as per your history, you may have folliculitis. my treatment advise would be: 1. take a course of oral antibiotics preferably of cephalosporin group, if not allergic for 5-7 days. 2. you may also take pain killer like tab ibuprofen for pain and tab levocetrizine once a day for itching. 3. also, you may apply topical antibiotics like fusiderm cream twice a day. if persistant after 5 days, consult a dermatologist. wishing you good health. thank you
