Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have pitting edema on both feet and weeping edema on a small part of my left back thigh. I am obese and am seeing a physical trainer for dietician and weight loss. After working out my swelling/edema almost goes away but returns if inactive again. Is there anything I can do for it? I suppose not taking in salt might help
Pitting edema usually occurs as a result of salt and water retention. Hypertension and diabetes should be ruled out. Liver and Kidney function tests should be undertaken. ECG and Echo to assess cardiac function is also essential.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
