I had found a tick on my leg about three/four weeks ago. The place where I took the flea off of hasn t healed yet. It is red and gets a head(like a pimple) and itches/burns until I pop it .. I thought I got the whole tick out. Could there be a small part still in there? Is this normal?
As per your case history, you are suffering from Insect bite dermatitis, my treatment advice is:
1. Don't squeeze the lesion as it may worsen the condition. 2. Apply a mild antibiotic plus steroid cream like Fusiderm-B cream twice daily on affected skin. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetrizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral steroid taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harshit Bhachech
