Hi, My 2.5 yr old son was diagnosed with retropharyngeal abscess about a month ago. He was on iv and in hospital for 9 days. He is still on clyndomicyn (sp?). When should I ecpect for the lump to go away? It is a lot smaller, but it seems to be taking forever to go away. thank you
Hi, Welcome to HCM. I have read your question in detail and I know that you are very concerned about your child but don't worry about it. Retropharyngeal abscess occurs due to infection most commonly streptococcal and staphylococcal. Once treated, this retropharyngeal abscess will resolve and chances of developing again are low. I hope this will help you. Wishing your child good. Take care.
