Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My Wife is suffuring from SLE and doctors had prescribe her Omna cortil 50mg (10mg table in 5 nos.), she had this table for past 20 days now and she is geeting side effects like hair loss, sleep less nights, restless, rashes.....please advice what to do ?
Omna cortil 50 mg daily is a typical regimen for SLE. The generic name is Prednisolone and these side effects are not usual for this medications especially at the dose and the length of time she has been using it. Unfortunately, there are not really ways of counteracting the side effects of this medication. What I would suggest is that you contact the prescribing physician as soon as possible so that he/she is aware of the ongoing symptoms that she is having. This way the medication can start to be decreased as soon as possible or even sometimes an alternative drug with fewer side effects can be used.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. David Girardi, Internal Medicine Specialist
