Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
All day I had pain, like a Charlie horse in the back of my left thigh. As the day progressed, it moved upward, first underneath my posterior, then into my buttock and into my hip and back. My left shoulder is really hurting. I have what feels like cramp in my chest. I took my blood pressure and pulse with a monitor... it s 134/98 pulse 109-131. What do you think?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Charlie horse like feeling in the back of left thigh going up to the buttocks and back can most probably be due to nerve entrapment in the thoraco-lumbar spine area, may be due to prolapsed disc or so. The shoulder pain on the same side might have been due to frozen shoulder of cervical spine problem. The blood pressure is slightly elevated but the pulse rate is alarmingly high 103 to 131 which worries me and may be due to cardiac problem or anxiety and pain. Hence I would advise you the following: Rush to ER as the heart rate is more to have EKG and cardiac check up. Complete clinical evaluation and examination will give clinical diagnosis and guidance for further investigations , symptomatic and guided treatment. Do not try anything at home as it may worsen the problems. You can certainly take a PPI like Omeprazole and anti-inflammatory medication with painkiller properties like Ibuprofen so that you get some relief.
