Greetings.
First of all treating a personality disorder like a "SADISTIC PERSON" takes a long time & their behaviour pattern is inflexible across all personal and social situations and significantly impairs their social or occupational functioning.
-Also there is no clear cause for sadistic personality disorder but can be linked with as a function of how one is brought up. Changes in such person usually occur in a predictable sequence.
-Different treatment modalities are needed to facilitate them viz.,
a) Reducing environmental stress can quickly relieve symptoms such as anxiety or depression.
b) Group therapy and behavior modification, sometimes within day care or designed residential settings, are effective.
c) Behaviors, such as recklessness, social isolation, lack of assertiveness, or temper outbursts, can be changed in months.
d) Participation in self-help groups or family therapy can also help change socially undesirable behaviors.
e) Family members can act in ways that either reinforce or diminish the patient's problematic behavior or thoughts, so their involvement is helpful and often essential.
& Finally one need to know that drugs have limited effects & can be misused or used in suicide attempts by the "SADISTIC PERSON".

NOTE:
Consult a Psychiatrist as some disorders have similar or even overlapping symptoms, who with his diagnostic experience, differentiate against the several other Mood disorders to establish a precise diagnosis & further management.

I feel it's more than enough & Hope it Helped you.
