How To Diagnose The Condition Of IBS?

So just my luck, I notice whenever I am in class, that i feel like pressure or gas building up inside me. It is not exactly like the feeling of needing to let out gas tho. My body tenses up and i try to hold it in so my stomach wont make any noises in class. But after hold it in, my stomach/insides make a long whining sound which is embarrassing because it sounds like a long fart. This happened to me a couple times. I would be taking a test and it is really quiet. Then this happens and my stomach or somethin releases this whining sound, like my body is releasing gas discretely. What is wrong with me? is it just because i am holding in my gas that it does this? what can i do to stop these weird noises? is it irritable bowel syndrome? its weird because it only happens to me in the mornings, most of the time in class. I am always struggling around or stressed out in class because i am dealing with these problems. please help!! what is this??? 1 year ago Report Abuse Additional Details oh and its not because i am hungry. These are not stomach growls. I feel the pressure in my lower stomach/inside my butt. lol. It feel like some build up and then when the whining sound happens, i become relieved a little until the tense feeling starts again. 1 year ago

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Considering your only symptoms, this is unlikely to be IBS. For IBS, abdominal bloating is just a supportive symptom, which is your primary complaint. For IBS, which is again a diagnosis of exclusion, means we have to rule out all other possible diagnosis explaining these symptoms.

Abdominal pain associated with altered frequency or consistency of stools for > 3 months establishes IBS again after ruling out other diagnoses. For you, I would recommend seeing a GI specialist and till then you can take Syrup Dijex MP 1 TSF Twice daily for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ameet Kumar
