How To Eat Properly Without Gaining Weight?

Hi, i'm 15 and about 5'8. I don't have breakfast or lunch so the first thing i eat is usually my tea at around 7 o'clock which is usually only some soup or a small stew or something like that. Later on il usually just have some toast and go to bed. I'm really worried I'm in starvation mode or damaging myself, i want to eat properly but i'm scared to start eating normally because i really do not want to put on weight.

You are intelligent enough to understand what you are doing is wrong. Do not starve yourself as it will affect your health in the long run. You are just 15 and you need to eat well as you are still growing. Adolescents often fear gaining weight and are conscious of their body shape but remember that you are in a critical growth period and starvation at this stage can spell disastrous for your future health.

If you eat healthy and stay active, you will stay healthy without gaining weight. If you starve, your metabolism will slow down automatically to conserve every calorie that you eat. When metabolism slows down, you have a higher chance of putting on weight, so do not starve yourself!

If you want to rev up your metabolism to prevent any weight gain, then follow these tips:

Make sure you have a good breakfast comprising of a whole grain cereal, milk and fruit as it jump starts your metabolism after an overnight fast of 10-12 hours.

Eat a healthy diet comprising of a variety of fresh whole fruits and vegetables as raw salads, green leafy vegetables as they are low in calories, rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals.

Have whole grain cereals like whole wheat products, bran containing foods, oat bran, whole wheat pasta, brown rice or partly milled rice etc,

Include milk and milk products such as cottage cheese and curd as they are good sources of calcium which will help to build strong bones.

Include enough protein rich foods such as beans, legumes and pulses, and if non-vegetarian you can choose lean meat, eggs, poultry and fish required for proper growth.

Avoid oily or junk foods, processed foods, carbonated drinks, fried snacks as they are rich in calories from fats and sugar which will only contribute to weight gain and do not provide any nutrition.

Stay active because thats the best way you can burn calories. Engage in sports activities or outdoor games, dancing, swimming, cycling all of which will keep you healthy and fit.
