doctor in 2000 lot of complication in pregnance so three forth intenstine was removed since then weakness digestion problem etc..slight improvement in last 2 years like weight gain rise in hemoglobin from 7 to 9..what precautions shall i take henceforth my age is 46 years.?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of complications in pregnancy in 2000 and hence 2/3 rd intestine was removed, you are slowly recovering and getting weight gain and rise of hemoglobin from 7 to 9. Wants to know what precautions to be taken. Intestines have the major role in allowing the food to be mixed with pancreatic enzymes for digestion to occur, absorption of the nutrients ans so on. Since 2/3 rd intestine is not there the function also is going to get reduced and hence the the essentials of taking small frequent highly nutritious foods and beverages, supplements of all sorts as the transit time is less for all the vitamins and mineral to be absorbed as per the daily requirements. Avoid all the foods and beverages that can cause diarrhea. Get the stool tested regularly to so that the digestion is complete.
