Hi, i just completed 9 weeks pregnancy. i had some complications as there is a clot near the sac and i was bleeding, but it has now dried up and i m getting treated for the same (my baby is fine). My doctor has asked me to do scaning which means this scaning will happen for baby to check the neck bone and thickness of the skin. when i asked why scanning, i was told it is routine checkup. plz tell me is this scaning thing done is actually a routine checkup which every doc advice to do after certain weeks or it has smething to do with the cloth. My age is 26. My weight is 71 (checked yesterday).Hope this info is enough.
The clot you described from behind the baby is usually gone once you stop bleeding. As long as you follow your doctor's advice, this should not be a problem with the pregnancy for the future.
The test that your doctor is recommending for you is called a nucchal translucency test or a first-trimester screen. It is a routine test recommended for all pregnant women to estimate the risk of Down's syndrome and other types of birth defects. The test is just an ultrasound of the baby and taking measurements and usually a blood test on the same day.
I hope this answers your question and best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy
Sincerely, Dr. Brown
