How To Get Rid Of Hard Lump On Skin Due To Bursting Of An Abscess?

I had an abscess underneath, I was taken into hospital to have an operation to remove it but it burst before I had the op, so they sent me home. It have healed where it was but there s an hard lump with no pain. It burst last week! Is this normal? And if so how do I get rid of the lump? Thanks for the help.

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

Hard lump could be because of soft tissue swelling, which would resolve by itself in a few days OR it may be that the abscess still has some simmering infection remaining.

If I was your treating doctor I would have advised you a course of an oral antibiotics for a week (e.g penicillin group of antibiotics for a week, either Amoxycillin in combination with clavulanic acid, 625 mg thrice daily).

take care
regards
