I have several red welt like areas in my armpit. It started out as 5 or 6 small red spots. Some have disappeared, but two have gotten large and are very painful. I thought at first it was some kind of insect bite. The two of them are quite painful and it hurts to have my arm down against my body. They have been there about a week.
Hi. As per your case history you may be having either simple folliculitis or a disease called as hidradenitis supprativa. My treatment advice is - 1. Wear loose clothes. Bath twice daily to keep armpits sweet free. 2. Avoid using hair removal cream or razor to remove hair of axilla. Instead use a scissor to remove them. 3. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on affected part. Oral NSAID may be taken for pain 4. Other treatment options include oral antibiotics and higher topical antibiotic cream like mupirocin.
In case the lesion persists beyond 2 weeks, it maybe hidradenitis supprativa. It's better to consult a dermatologist then.
