Hello. I am suffering from a very sore left tonsil. I visited my doctor who prescribed me with penicillin. Trouble is that it is soooo hard to swallow, I have a fever (sometimes aches and painsl and 2-3 white spots on left tonsil. I felt the tonsil and it feels hard. I have taken antibiotics for 3 days and there is no improvement..what can be done in this situation? How can I ease the pain of my sore throat. Its soo hard to sleep at night-time :(
This is surely bacterial tonsillitis causing you so much pain and all. Continue the oral penicillin for few more days and if it still does not help your Doctor will change over to another antibiotic like Amoxicillin or so. Also, needed is an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen if it suits you. Liquid povidone iodine gargles as directed on the bottle. Lots of warm liquids to maintain cleanliness and proper hydration. Sometime injectable antibiotics like Gentamycin may be required. Also, get the throat swab from affected tonsils and tests of blood. Take full bed rest. Consult your Doctor again if required.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
