Hi, I have Lupus and a lot of problems because of it . I also have Bells Palsy it effects mainly my right side, This time my jaw remained very swollen and sore, I could hardly open my mouth. I ve been on Prednisone , but it doesn t seem to help. I have TMJ , but it is not that. I m in a lot of pain. What do you suggest, of course my doctor is away till the 23rd. I m reading Bone Cancer and other diseases, I just need some help. Thanks
I can understand your concern. All the conditions you are suffering from, lupus, Bell's Palsy and TMJ problems, affect the jaw so it is very difficult to say what is causing you the pain right now.
As you have problem with opening the mouth, I think it must be the TMJ problem that is causing the pain. You can take Ibuprofen 400 mg or Ketorolac 10 mg up to thrice a day to have relief in pain.
In addition, you should see a pain management clinic or a neurologist for the control of pain regarding all the condition you are suffering from.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
