How To Handle The Sexual Desire Of Patient Who Lost His Wife?
im a caregiver in a private home. My patient recently lost his wife. In the last week he has started masturbation and remarks to the caregivers. We as caregivers know how to handle his remarks. The family is aware and ask me should they get him a magazine or find someone to pleasure him. My thought was if you find someone to pleasure him it may cause the sexual advances towards the caregivers to increase. Ultimately I told the family that's a decision you have to make. My patient also has dementia. What do we do?
Hello, The best thing to do is ignore the behavior. I would not suggest magazines or people to pursue him. Just ignore the behavior as best you can. If he has dementia it will be impossible to reason with him. This is difficult, good luck Regards
