How To Heal Sports Mediated Severe Leg Muscle Pain And Straining?

I am training for a marathon--the LA Marathon to be precise--it's on March 9. About two weeks ago, Saturday, I had a good 17 mile run. Then on Monday I ran a fast 6 and on Tuesday, the same. Thursday, I had an intense groin pain, but I ran 7 miles. I was literally out from work the next day (Thursday) and Friday. Was unable to run that following week. Went to doctor's just to be sure--it was just overuse. So I went to PT once last week and the PT took my right leg and told me to relax and then he pulled it and it felt so much better. I haven't run, however, did a little jog run today (Saturday) and I can feel it, but it's not debilitating. The Marathon is in two weeks! Is there any type of injection--like I did for my knee?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case.

Use ice packs to reduce swelling, inflammation and pain.
Physiotherapy with ultrasound and Tens will help you,
For early healing you can take Tab celin [vit C] and antioxidant with anti-inflammatory [Tab enzomac plus]

If pain persist then you may need to do MRI again to see for any functional defect.

If required MRI knee can be done and if there is destruction of menisci then arthroscopic shaving can be done.

Do not worry for marathon let it heal naturally and permanently to avoid future problem.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care.
