hi i have my tongue bitten last week. for first few days, it s not hurt. but starting on the fourth day it start to develop ulcer and feel hurt. the thing is, the bitten happen to be close to graham teeth and when i talk or eat, it feels so painful and sometimes it bleed again. it s already a week since the first bite and i have rinse my mouth with salt water and antiseptic several times. the pain is reduced but still the wound have not closed completely. do i need to see a doctor? or just let it self heal?
Hi. You need to see a Doctor. If the tongue has to heal on its own, it would have been by this time. The delayed healing indicates that there is an infection which has delayed healing , plus the irritation by foods , beverages and speech. This is an organ in the body which moves almost continuously. I would suggest you to visit the Doctor who would see fir the cause of delayed healing, prescribe you antibiotics and supportive treatment. Take liquid diet. Avoid too hot or too cold. The chances of secondary suturing are there this is needed.
