hi my 14month daughter is just around 8kgs.she was 3.2 kgs at time of birth and weight gain was good till 6 months (around 6.5kgs at the end of 6th month). However post that there not been much increase in weight. I give her medicine MIM as suggested by her paediatrician. She has max 400ml of milk in a day and just 2 meals sometimes 3 and 1 fruit. Morning if I give her breakfast (milkshake generally) she vomits. How do I increase her appetite?
Hi I think it is important to make sure that your daughter is healthy with no intercurrent infection, diarrhoea etc. Some children do become choosy with food as they have been used to drinking milk. Force feeding sometimes makes young children to develop food aversion and becomes an issue when you have concerns about the weight gain. It is worth plotting her height and weight since birth on a growth chart to see if she is tracking along a growth centile. There are medication like Cyproheptadine (antihistamine) which can stimulate appetite at the cost of drowsiness. I would not recommend for your young daughter. Introduce home cooked food (soft consistency) add extra calories like butter or margarine (moderate amount you add). If she has been in good health, I would not worry too much. Experiment with different food and see.
