How To Improve Breathing With Only One Lung?

I had a Quad ruple by-pass about 6 yrs ago and dur ing the procedure,,, the surgeon cut my diaphragm,,and now am not able to use my right lung,,, now I am having to use just one lung but I have a hard time breathing with just that one,I am unable to do a lot of things that I could at one time,,,sometimes it is hard for me to breathe at all if I am trying to work. I am on oxygen but can't use it all the time because of the things I do,, Plse help me,,,Is there any thing I can do to help myself or is there cure for fixing that Diaphram,,,this breathing with just one lung slows me down a lot,,any solution out there????

Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation and problem.
Sorry to say but nerve to diaphragm and diaphragm once damage can not be repaired in fiture. So the function of diaphragm, once lost can not be reverted.
We can only strengthen the normal healthy lung.
And for this try to follow these steps .
1. Avoid smoking.
2. Enroll yourself in pulmonary rehabilitation center where chest physiotherapy and deep breathing exercise are done. These will improve your lung function.
3. Vaccinate yourself with adult respiratory vaccines like pneumococcal and influenza to prevent future respiratory tract infection.
