Hi.... I m 21/male in New York and realized over the years that I can t seem to relate to peers my age. For instance I just can t seem to talk to people I m around a lot but am not very close with. Some people around school who I ve somewhat been friends with even call me friendless and socially inept. I have been in touch with psychologists over the years and they ve never really diagnosed me with anything other than GAD. I ve lived this long and been alright with things, but after someone who I thought really respected me called me socially inept I just don t want to deal with this going forward. It doesn t make sense to me but feels bad and I don t know what to do.
Dear you are suffering from Generalized Anxiety Disorder which is not a rare problem now a days so don't worry much about it. Avoid any kind of stress if it is there, or any disturbed relation you are in. If there is no precipitating factor in your life than it might be a genetic predisposition. You can have long term beneficial effects by going through intense but time limited group stress reduction intervention based on meditation. Best is to go for cognitive behavior therapy and relaxation. Besides all this continue with the medication and be confident about yourself .......................tc care you will definitely improve.
Hi thank you for sharing your problem at hcm. Try making one or two close friends. they may be your roommates or siblings.they will be a path towards your entry into society. If you feel difficulty in matching people of society at the begining due to your introverted nature, then be active on social networking sites.in that way you will get yourself comfortable with society and people.later on you can shift to real life friendship to those people. And at the end I would say being introvert is not a bad thing.you being introvert definitely should be a genius or hard worker. So good that you are different than other people.respect yourself.Often people who contributed significantly to this world by their reaserch or something significant where not socially that much mixed up. And no need to consult psychiatrist for this..
Good luck.
