Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 12-yr old grandson who is pencil thin. Two years ago weight like 95 lbs and has not gained any weight but has grown a few inches. He is cold and usually wrapped in a fuzzy blanket alot. He would prefer to eat mostly plain salad greens with ranch dressing for supper. Pizza Rolls are eaten often. Nibbles on eating meat and will trash most of it. Orders Nachos - but eats about 1/3. Order a hamburger - but eats about 1/3. During a shopping trip to JoAnn Fabrics after about an hour he sat down on the floor because his legs hurt to stand. I have not seen him for two years. He is currently with his Dad this summer in Las Vegas and I live in South Carolina so I do not have access to a lot of info but I am concerned and would like to help.
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum. As you describe, it is the correct time to take attention for his growth. It may be possible that the height also may be retarded. I advise you to consult a physician for diagnosis and treatment . To find any chronic disease, he may have to get the blood tests done. He may prescribe him injection of anabolic steroids, enzymes, protein supplements, and multivitamins. I advise him lot of calories, pulses, sprouts, fats. Encourage him for cycling, exercises, eating snakes etc. Let him sleep for more time, but not all time. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
