Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
iwas taking 150 mg of zoloft until about a year ago, when i slowly titrated down to 50 mg/day. i feel like i need to increase. how do i do this safely? also, why do i keep reading that increasing zoloft causes anxiety? i thought it was supposed to QUELL anxiety. thanks
hi, zoloft (sertaline) is an antidepressant, and is not an anxiolytic drug; so it wont by any chance quell the anxiety. some patients may experience anxiety while on the drug or during dose titration for this reason. As it alters the seratonin levels in the brain, it can have those side effects; hence used for depression and not for anxiety. hope i am clear.
