Hello Doctor , I am 37, 165 cm height, 57 kg weight, daily takes medicine to control my cholestrol. Recently I tested my HOMOCYSTEINE levels, it was 29umol. Please suggest me how to lower my homocysteine levels.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic Homocysteine levels can be decreased by eating food rich in Vitamin B6, B12, Folic acid like fresh green leafy vegetables, nuts, pulses, chicken, fish, eggs. Eat more fruits and vegetables in diet. There are also dietary vitamin supplements available if you are vegetarian because Vitamin B12 is not found in pure vegetarian food.
Hi Dr. Raghu sir, Thanks for your answer.
I am a very health conscious person - I take lot of green vegtables. I also daily eat sprouts, nuts as breakfast, I do eat chicken & fish once in a week. Do daily exercise. I have consulted a doctor, he prescribed me to take Folvite 5 mg daily. (apart from Cholestrol reducing medicine (Arvast 5 mg)
Apart from the above do I need to do any thing else to reduce my Homocysteine? Please suggest me. I am drepressed about my condition!
