Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear Madam,
It would have been really helpful if you had mentioned the current treatment regimen. Anyways in my opinion he is going through the natural phase of diabetes where the requirement of tablets increases very gradually. This can be to certain extent controlled by good diet, exercise and weight loss. As of now please don't prick him every 2 hours. get a FBS, PPBS and HbA1c done. Meet a diabetologist for fine-tuning treatment. Am sure his blood sugars will quickly come under control. Having high sugars for a long time can affect his kidney , eye and nerve so buck up and get your sugars down (i mean your husband's)
All the very best!!
