How To Manage Beta Thalassemia During Pregnancy?

I m a beta thalassemia carrier and 8 weeks pregnant with my second child. My first child is 13 months old and delivered via an emergency c- section. I am taking foluc acid supplements and just want to know how do I overcome this beta thalassemia? I m 28 years old and Asian

It is important for your husband to get tested for thalassemia. If he is normal then your children will lead a near normal life as they will be normal or carriers like you. But if your husband is also a carrier of thalassemia then it a cause for concern as there is 25% chance that your child will have thalassemia disease. With regard to your pregnancy continue taking the folic acid tablets and most probably you will be delivered by a c-section. Hope that answers your question.
