Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Hello! Thanks for putting your query in HCM. I am a Gastroenterologist (DM).

I appreciate your concern regarding your mother. Constipation is very common at this stage especially when when patient is suffering from illness like stroke. I will advise you to increase fibres in her diet by increasing fruits and vegetables and may also add psyllium fibres. May add laxative like syrup cremaffin plus which is a combination of milk of magnesia, liquid paraffin and sodium picosulphate which I found very useful in my patients.

I hope I have answered your query and this will help you. If you have any further query I will be happy to answer that too. Remain in touch and get-well soon.
