How To Overcome The Itchy Rash Which Is Not Localized?
My daughter has been suffering from an itchy rash for over a week. It's not localized, though I did have her try a cortisone cream, to no avail. It looks almost like a heat rash and seems to get itchier at night. It may be something contagious, as she has a friend with it also, who has had it longer and is now scratching himself raw. I am in no financial position to take her to the doctor if there is something we can do at home for this. Please help! Thank you
Judging from the description you provided, i could find 2 important points suggesting me a diagnosis of Scabies: >Close contact with similar symptoms(friend) >nocturnal itching.
I advice my patients of scabies a single, whole body application(sparing face) of 5% permethrin cream/lotion for 8 hrs (overnight), which is curative in most cases.
An oral antihistamine like cetrizine would help with the itching associated with it.
It is important to wash all the clothes, bed-sheets, pillow covers, towels and handkerchiefs etc.
It is normally advisable to treat empirically all the family members also simultaneously.
take care regards
