My granddaughter recently lost quite a bit of weight and appears to have an eating disorder. She is being treated in Palo Alto CA. I am a physicist and am wondering about other possibilities. In particular, Emily became quite good at soccer, and was the striker last spring and her team ended up #1 the local category. That was just last spring. Then by the end of June, she had lost enough weight that it was quite noticeable, and was weak. There is a family situation. Her mother, divorced from our son, may have been encouraging Emily to diet to become a Japanese model (mother is Japanese father is caucasian). Emily s living arrangements amaze my wife and I about the amount of stress involved, andhow she can handle them with such grace and patience. Her father and stepmother became concerned about Emily s drop in appetite and drop in weight attended by apparent weakening. I saw Emily in early July and she definitely was low energy. Her father sought help for eating disorders, which was progressing, and she was scheduled for a counseling session on August 11. Emily was admitted to a children s hospital in Palo Alto last night. Sometime during the night, she was awakened by the staff and given a Boost because her heart rate had dropped below 40. I wondered about the relationship to her athleticism, and browsing today brought the info that bradycardia can be not a dysfunction in a person with Emily s profile. I m not trying to undercut anyone, just trying to do my due diligence. Is that enough info for you to reply?
