How To Prevent Labyrinthitis During Air Travel?

My son ( 27)will start working as a flight attendant, but has suffered in the past of labyrinthitis. How you can he prevent any damage in his ear or effects such as dizziness or loss of balance. I know that stress can worsen his condition, this is true?

Labrynthitis is commonly caused by viral infections. This happens following viral flu affecting upper respiratory tract(common cold).Majority of times this is self limited relieving by itself without any complications.Air travel can cause pressure differences in ear and can lead to fluid built up in ears and worst rupture of round window leading to perilymph leak causing vertigo.Usually flight personnals are taught to cope up with these pressure differences during training.Using nasal decongestant drops before flying has shown to decrease effects of trauma in ear.Using chewing gums also helps.Treat common cold early to prevent labrynthitis.
