I have been trying to stop smoking for years. I have tried nicotine gum, mints, hypnosis and the patch. My friends are using the E Vapor cigarette. I am concerned about proylene glycol. I have read that it is used in anti freeze. Can you please advise me? Thank you, Melanie
It's a controversial topic. There is an FDA approved nicotine inhaler system without poly ethylene glycol BUT he e-cigarette was more acceptable, provided more satisfaction, and had higher perceived benefit http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24830741 there's like an 80% reduction in cigarettes with e-cigs. This is really good. They do have some carcinogens in them and their overall cancer risk is totally unknown. Rare individuals can be plain allergic to something in at least some e-cigarettes AND THEY KNOW IT from a LOT of lung reaction. the ethylene glycol is not a huge exposure and it's not that toxic. the short term effects of ecigs direct and indirect are not much. THe long term risks, however, are just not known, but highly unlikley to be as bad as cigarettes. They can be used as one component to rapidly coming off of cigarettes--that 80% reduction is hard to beat.
