Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How To Recover From Low Blood Pressure And Any Need To Reduce Heart Rate?
Today I had my blood pressure taken. It's 105/52. Is this healthy? Also, it said that my pulse per minute is 84. I'm somewhat active in that I walk about 2 1/2 miles every Wednesday with my friend and I walk around my school's pond for 30 minutes everyday except Wednesday. Unfortunately, I don' t know my weight as I haven't checked in a while. So I was just wondering if I need to do something to decease my heartrate. Thank you for your help. Before I forget, I'm 24 years old and African-American.
It looks like as if your blood pressure was measured using an electronic machine. In general their readings are not very accurate. Please get your blood pressure measured with an mercury sphygmomanometer and by a qualified doctor, and in both the arms. If still you get such low values, you may need further evaluation. Also remember cardiovascular workouts tends to lower blood pressure and you may have taken blood pressure after a work out which will lower blood pressure and raise heart rate. In that case there is no cause for concern.
