Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take beano as I get gas after eating beans, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, etc. The beano doesn t work, do I have to take gasx. I still have the gas problem. I read somewhere to use baking soda in water, but cannot find out how much baking soda to put in how much water. Can you tell me?
Baking soda can be a teaspoon in 4 ounces of water up to 3 times a day; but baking soda is best for acid reflux (or sour stomach). What you are describing is gas. Obviously cruciferous vegetables cause gas as you have mentioned. Other foods that cause gas (and bloating and diarrhea) are dairy products. Perhaps dairy is the problem. Try to stop intake of any cheese, milk, ice cream and yogurt to see if symptoms improve. If they do and you cannot stay away from dairy, you may consume lactaid pills prior to eating dairy products. Best regards
