How To Reduce Side Effects Of Wellbutrin?

i have stopped taken my wellbutrin. i was on 300 XL a day. About 2 weeks ago i went to 150ml a day and for the past week i have gone to zero. My dr also has me taking 100 zoloft per day which i still take. and i take trazodone 100mg at night to sleep. i have been very sick with a cold. they gave me a cough syrup which had dextromethorphan and that seemed to really not work well with the zoloft. My Dr has also given me atavan for anxiety which I have taken and does seem to help. The bottom line: i have a lot of mental confusion, I feel like I am seeing things out of the corner of my eye, i feel better when I take the atavan. i think my Dr is nuts and I am worried to get more bad advice from him. I don t want to take anymore Wellbutrin…it has been 10 days or so since my last dose. Am i still at risk for a seizure? I no longer take the cough syrup since I read about the adverse interaction with Zoloft. When will these side effects stop? Thank you Mbadger

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello Dear. I suggest you to keep trust on your doctor. Your doctor knows what is best for you. Do not discontinue any medications without the advice of your doctor. Anyways for your information i will tell you few of the side effects of tab wellbutrin. They are

1. Anxiety
2. dry mouth
3. hyperventilation
4. irregular heartbeats
5. irritability
6. restlessness
7. shaking
8. shortness of breath
9. trouble sleeping

You seem to be having depression and anxiety. I will tell you few general tips to overcome this which you need to follow on regular basis

1. Connect with others: Loneliness and isolation set the stage for anxiety. Decrease your vulnerability by reaching out to others. Make it a point to see friends, join a self-help or support group, or share your worries and concerns with a trusted loved one.

2. Practice relaxation techniques: When practiced regularly, relaxation techniques such as mindfulness meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, and deep breathing can reduce anxiety symptoms and increase feelings of relaxation and emotional well-being.

3. Exercise regularly: Exercise is a natural stress buster and anxiety reliever. To achieve the maximum benefit, aim for at least 30 minutes of aerobic exercise on most days.

4. Get enough sleep: A lack of sleep can exacerbate anxious thoughts and feelings, so try to get seven to nine hours of quality sleep a night. If you struggle with sleep, adopting smart sleep habits can make a big difference.

5. Be smart about caffeine and alcohol: If you struggle with anxiety, you may want to consider reducing your caffeine intake or cutting it out completely. Same with alcohol, which can make anxiety worse.

6. Train your brain to stay calm: Worrying is a mental habit you can learn how to break. Strategies such as creating a worry period, challenging anxious thoughts, and learning to accept uncertainty can significantly reduce anxiety and fear.
