General & Family Physician 's  Response
It is really hard to estimate the extent of the injury without seeing and examining. If it is only bruising and swelling without any underlying bony injury, it should gradually heal up in 5-7 days. Applying magnessium sulphate powder packed into a thin cloth pouch and wrapping it over the area would help in reducing the swelling or oedema as fast as possible. If it is a open wound which has bled, it might require to be treated with antibiotics. I would strongly insist that you get it examined by a doctor.
